Social Development Department Minister Sisisi Tolashe has pledged her help and commitment to improving South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) services through an engagement together with the company's senior administrators at a strategic arranging session in Cape Town.
Tolashe on Tuesday expressed her heartfelt congratulations to the numerous social grant beneficiaries, who excelled while in the 2024 matric exams.
In the 724 156 full-time learners who registered for the National Senior Certificate (NSC), 572 338 are social grant beneficiaries, representing 81% from the registered pupils while in the education sector.
These learners attained a commendable pass rate of 86%.
"This means that the expenditure national government is making during the life of weak and susceptible youngsters is yielding a favourable impression in breaking intergenerational poverty," Tolashe explained.
Reflecting on current achievements, the Minister highlighted crucial milestones and ongoing priorities. She dedicated to urgently addressing the issue of everlasting leadership appointments and the scarcity of personnel at most community workplaces.
